Some people take swimming as the exercise which is also correct. It is the life time sports and exercise. It keeps the lungs and hearts healthy which is an important factor for aged life. The point which keeps the hand of swimming up to all other sports and exercise is that is the exercise for people of all ages. Swimming makes your cardiovascular muscles strong, which keeps the heart diseases away.
If one talks about the psychological effects of swimming... "relaxation" and "calmness" comes to mind. These are really the needs in this modern world. Muscles enhancement is also an positive factor of swimming. Gym and other weight lifting programes are entirely different subjects with respect to swimming. You can make muscles by gym but after a short time, you would be seeing the after effects(disadvantages) of it. But swimming makes cuts in your body and these muscles never deform i.e no disadvantages.
